SUSTAINBILITY
SUSTAINABILITY"What difference is one bag going to make" - 7.7 Billion people Did you know plastic packaging like parcels, stickers and poly bags account for 42% of all plastic worldwide? By 2050 it is estimated that there will be more plastic in the ocean than there will be fish. We use 5 trillion plastic bags per year. Thats about 160,000 every second and over 700 for every single person on earth. Single use plastics are not designed to break down easily - we can do better than that.
THE IMPACT OF PLASTIC USAGE
-
Chemical Exposure: Workers in plastic recycling facilities may be exposed to various chemicals present in plastics, such as phthalates, bisphenol A (BPA), flame retardants, and other additives. Accidental spills or leaks of these chemicals can lead to inhalation or skin exposure, causing acute or chronic health effects.
-
Air Pollution: Fires or overheating of plastics during processing can release toxic fumes and particulate matter into the air. Inhalation of these pollutants can lead to respiratory problems and other health issues for workers and nearby communities.
-
Biological Hazards: Improper handling of organic waste mixed with plastics or inadequate sanitation practices can create conditions favorable for the growth of bacteria, fungi, and other microorganisms, increasing the risk of infections and illnesses among workers and the community.
