Disintegration: EN 13432 defines requirements for the physical disintegration of packaging materials during composting. This ensures that the material breaks down into smaller particles.

Chemical Composition: The standard sets limits on the presence of certain substances in packaging materials, such as heavy metals, to prevent environmental harm during composting.

Effect on Composting Process: The standard addresses the impact of the packaging material on the composting process itself, ensuring that it does not negatively affect the quality of the resulting compost.
